Joining can literally take seconds, if you use your google account. Now, where do you go after joining?

Here are a few tips to get you started:

The display on your phone will omit some options seen on a tablet or PC. You can turn your phone to landscape view to see some of these options. To easily view and edit your profile on a phone, just tap the top right corner – where your photo should be displayed.

Upload a profile photo. This makes your profile page more attractive.

You can choose to display your age and zodiac sign. Both of these fields are derived from your birthdate. Your birthdate is not displayed but members find these important when making a decision about the person behind a profile.

Say something about yourself on your profile. You and your profile give off a feel of sophistication when there are things to read about who you are – write about your short and long term goals and the kinds of people you would like to meet.

Add some multi-media content. You are allowed to display YouTube and Vimeo videos on your profile. This is easily done by copy and pasting the video url on your profile post tab.

SJ allows you to write articles/blog and create events. Here you can also easily add your videos, depending on your interests – fashion, lifestyle, health, fitness, music etc.

If you started your membership using your Google account, SJ received your email, name and sometimes a low quality photo. Changing your gender to male or female on your profile is a good place to start – then change to a better quality photo (if necessary). No one will know you exist if your gender is not updated – the app is largely about members searching for male or female between a certain age range.

Introduce yourself to others – visit a profile of interest, click the message link and introduce yourself.

You have the option of regular text chat or video chat. The profile owner will have to let you in to video chat.

Be respectful to all members but report those that you see doing otherwise.
